Network Cabling Technician (Regina/Saskatoon)
Role: The Network Cabling Technician is responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting network infrastructure and communications hardware in retail and commercial environments. This role ensures all cabling and systems are properly deployed, tested, and fully operational in alignment with project scope, timelines, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Execute installation of network infrastructure including structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, Fiber, Coaxial) and associated hardware
Install and configure network and peripheral equipment (switches, routers, servers, POS systems, wireless access points, printers, and security devices)
Perform cable routing, fishing, dressing, termination, and cross-connects in accordance with industry standards
Install cable supports, pathways, and containment systems as required
Test all installed cabling and hardware to ensure performance and compliance with specifications, and validate system functionality including connectivity, performance, and integration with existing infrastructure.
Diagnose and resolve cabling, hardware, and network-related issues in the field
Interpret work orders, drawings, and technical specifications to execute assigned tasks
Conduct site assessments and pre-installation inspections
Coordinate with project teams, customers, and store personnel to ensure smooth execution of installations
Maintain accurate work logs, reports, and deliverables documentation
Travel to customer sites across assigned regions to complete installations
Support both day and night shift deployments, including weekends and after-hours work as required
Operate Elevated Work Platforms (EWP), including scissor lifts and boom lifts (training/certification provided if required)
Ensure adherence to all safety standards, including PPE and working-at-heights requirements
Technical Qualifications
Proven experience with structured cabling installations in commercial or retail environments
Hands-on experience with network infrastructure (switches, routers, wireless systems, POS systems, and related technologies)
Strong understanding of network fundamentals and troubleshooting methodologies
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and scope documentation
Experience operating hand and power tools in support of cabling and hardware installations
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams) and general computer systems
Certifications & Requirements
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract
Valid Working at Heights / Fall Protection certification
Elevated Work Platform (EWP) certification (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to travel extensively and work independently across assigned regions
Access to a reliable vehicle for transportation to job sites
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working at heights and in various site conditions
Willingness to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call support
